Located in Tianmenshan Town, Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, the Zhangjiajie Qixingshan Via Ferrata (Qixing Mountain Via Ferrata) is situated on Qixingshan—the highest peak in the Zhangjiajie urban area, at an elevation of 1,528.6 meters. It is a comprehensive outdoor adventure project that integrates cliff climbing, aerial ladder ascents, and cloud-level walkways. The project began internal testing in October 2024 and is scheduled to officially open in the summer of 2025.
The entire via ferrata adventure route spans 1.2 kilometers and takes about 3 hours to complete. The journey is carefully divided into 7 sections: descending the large cliff via ferrata, crossing a steel cable bridge, exploring the Grand Rock Shelter, climbing the Mini Ladder, trekking through mountain trails, courageously ascending the towering Sky Ladder, and concluding with an upward via ferrata climb on the large cliff. Each segment is thrilling and full of surprises, awaiting conquest by the brave.
The Qixingshan Via Ferrata features spectacular steep cliffs, along with sea of clouds and distant mountain landscapes. During the climb, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree unobstructed view of Zhangjiajie’s unique karst scenery, as if moving through a flowing landscape painting. No professional climbing skills are required—participants only need brief training to complete the entire route using fixed handrails, footholds, and safety cables.
The design of the Qixingshan Via Ferrata fully prioritizes visitor safety, equipped with professional safety gear and an emergency rescue system. In addition to the conventional 12mm steel cable "lifeline" running through the entire course, all metal climbing handles are securely connected by an additional 12mm steel cable, pioneering the world’s first "second lifeline." Each visitor is provided with dual safety locks attached to the main cable, featuring non-interrupted safety locks that cannot be opened without specialized tools, ensuring safety even in extreme situations.
